Chile Pepper

This simple 2X2 pattern is a New Zealand Killer-style fly developed in Chile (hence the "e" not and "i") as a sea run trout pattern and works well as a FRESH water pattern for late summer/fall fishing as a immature carp imitation. That's a mouthful! The two materials are both from a Golden Phesant (GP) - the rump area yellow and the neck area red.

Hook - 4 XL ring-eyed hook, 4-6 (I usually use Mustad 9674)
Thread - fire red, fire orange, or fluorescent variations of either
Tail - yellow GP fibers, ~ length of shank
Body - 2-3 matched sets of yellow GP feathers, tied Killer-style
Shoulders - matched pair red GP feathers
Head - tying thread with SHHAN

Like I said - a nice pattern for this time of year. Enjoy!
