Hey gang, getting older is catching up with me and finding it harder to see what I’m doing at the vice. I bought one of these head set but it’s just awkward. What do you guys use, looking for a better option.

I also have magnifiers which I got frustrated with so I just use my prescription glasses. Fred is right, good lighting is critical, and knots are impossible without glasses.

Redwood, I completely understand. I have a magnifier as part of a Giraffe light I purchased years ago. The magnifier got in my way as well. So, I purchased strong, high quality clip-on lenses for my regular eye glasses and tie without the cumbersome Giraffe magnifier. You can select diopters up to 4X.

I don't recall the company or brand of magnifier clip-ons I have. But I've purchased full frame and half-frame. The half-frame allows me to view and and grab tools on my cluttered fly tying desk outside of the magnifier. I Googled clip-on magnifier glasses and found a bunch. Even Amazon has a lot offered. I use 4X diopter for tying small flies. Now, I have a couple of Hat Eyes clip-on magnifier lens that I just clip on the bill of my hat to tie on midges at streamside. Hat Eyes is a well-made product and has an extension for bifocals. However, I had to switch to trifocals and I now make adjustments to my Hat Eyes. Let me know if you can't find something to suit you and I'll resume the search.
