Materials
Pheasant or Mallard
I chose Pheasant for this
Peel off the fluff and pull back even portions from both sides of feather
Manipulate feather and pinch both sides together
Place feather on hook, while pinching sides together make a couple of thread wraps to hold wing in place
Pull feather rearward and make a few thread wraps in
Take feather by the tip and stroke out a few fibres from one side of stem. Pull fibres down then do the same to other side of stem.
Make sure feather is secure to hook then clip off excess
Manipulate wing so that it sits the way you want. The horns can be clipped off or left I choose to leave them.
Saw this in a video today. It works great for making Wally Wings. I’m using an eye dropper. Preparing the feather as above, then feed it thru the dropper by the tip. You get a great wing every time.
