Partridge feathers are a mainstay for tying soft hackle flies. But the stems are often fragile and brittle. I soften and make them more flexible by soaking them in a mixture of glycerin and water for a couple of hours. Does anyone else do the same? Other feathers?

We have a few soft hackle gurus from way back east who could probably chime in on this one, @Seanie @TK @Whitehorses
